On Saturday, the Munising Mustang wrestlers travelled to Escanaba to compete in the yearly Esky Elks tournament. As one of the largest tournaments in the UP, the Elks is notoriously difficult to place at. In spite of the difficulty and small roster, the majority of Munising’s wrestlers came home with medals. Cole Whitehead and Riley Murk lost a close match each for 3rd place, winning 4th instead. Billy Crisp made it to the 3rd place finals and won due to medical forfeit.
Reagan Bowerman made it into the finals and defeated a wrestler from Benzie Central in commanding fashion, bringing home Munising’s only gold. Overall, the Mustangs had a fantastic day of wrestling. They will compete at home on Wednesday at 6PM vs Westwood, Manistique, and Bark River.
