Tuesday afternoon the Forsyth Township Police officers responded to a Domestic Violence incident involving a firearm on the 300 block of Skybolt.
A female contacted 911 and reported that her son had assaulted his girlfriend and held her at gunpoint for several hours threatening her life.
Officers had learned that the female victim had fled the residence seeking safety at a family member’s residence. Upon the arrival of the officers, the male subject was identified as Austin Brown, had located the female victim at that residence and was attempting to gain entry to the house.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that brown had assaulted the female and threatened her life with a shotgun, further firing the shotgun in the residence into the ceiling.
Austin Brown was taken into custody and lodged at the Marquette County Jail. Upon review, the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office authorized the following charges:
- Felony discharge of a firearm in a building
- assault with a dangerous weapon
- felony firearm (2 counts)
- Domestic Violence
The Forsyth Township Police Department along with the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office, encourages anyone who may be a victim, or knows someone who may be a victim of domestic violence to reach out to law enforcement or the Marquette County Women’s Center
